The table below may be useful in helping you to decide what size cake you need.

Caterers at events generally cut fruit cakes into 1” x 1” fingers, sponge/chocolate cakes 2” x 1”.
If you are serving your cake instead of a dessert, the portion sizes are normally doubled, so the amount of portions per cake would be halved.
Family party cakes are often served in more generous wedge-shaped portions, so please remember to allow for this when ordering your cake. If in doubt, please ask me.
EXTRA PORTIONS (FOR WEDDING CAKES ONLY)
I can also supply cutting cakes (only with wedding cakes ordered), which can be served at the wedding breakfast leaving the main cake as a focal point until the evening reception, or for providing extra portions if necessary. These cakes will be coated to match the main cake, but will have no extra decoration. They are cut by the caterers at your venue and not displayed.
NUMBER SHAPED CAKES
Number-shaped cakes are normally around 10” in length and provide between 12 and 18 smallish portions in sponge cake, depending on which numbers are used.
